Emergency Lighting Testing

It is important that your emergency lighting is properly tested and maintained regularly, so it will function correctly in an emergency.

What is Emergency Lighting Testing?

Emergency lighting is installed to activate in any situation when the main power supply is cut.  This could be the result of fire or a power cut.  This lighting system usually operates automatically to give enough light to enable people to exit a property safely.  Therefore it is important that these systems are regularly checked and maintained in accordance with British Standard guidelines.

To test emergency lighting a mains power failure is initiated on the normal lighting circuit.  This forces the emergency lighting system to operate via a battery supply.

How can Equiptest help you?

We can regularly test your emergency lighting system at a time that suits you. The results of all testing and any necessary corrective action can be recorded in your fire safety log book. This record is then available for inspection if required.

When do you test emergency lighting?

The testing is designed to ensure the continued protection of your premises and occupants. All tests should, wherever possible, be undertaken at a time of least risk, because of the possibility of failure of the normal lighting supply occurring shortly after testing.
